Last year it was the launch of street racing under lights in Singapore and this year it was the turn of Abu Dhabi to host the last race of the season of the controversy ridden Formula 1, which was turned into a day and night extravaganza.
These oil rich nations have panache for making everything look grand, and though I am not a big fan of F1, I was simply awestruck with the magnitude of preparations, both in terms of infrastructure and organizing calibre.
In a race, which saw Hamilton withdrawing in the initial laps, and with Button resting on his laurels, the Red Bull drivers managed a podium finish; it was a race worth watching, the only dampener was the lack of champagne for the celebrations.
